Recommendations for intake: ALA is traditionally taken on an empty stomach (about 30 minutes before a meal or 2 hours after) for better absorption. Standard prophylactic dosages are 100–300 mg, however, for intensive support of metabolic processes or in weight loss programs, the dosage is increased to 600–1000 mg (strictly in consultation with a nutritionist). Important warning: Alpha-lipoic acid is not compatible with dairy products and supplements containing metals (calcium, magnesium, iron) — they should be taken at different times.
