The drug reduces the activity of lysosomal hydrolases, which prevents the breakdown of mucopolysaccharides in the capillary walls and the surrounding connective tissue. Thus, it normalizes increased vascular-tissue permeability and provides antiexudative (anti-edema) and analgesic effects. The drug increases vascular tone and has a moderate hypoglycemic effect.

Severe renal impairment (kidneys may be unable to excrete the drug). Severe hepatic impairment. Bleeding (active internal or external bleeding). In case of individual hypersensitivity to aescin, some patients may experience: Allergic reactions: skin rash (papular, petechial, erythematous), itching, flushing (hyperemia) of the face and lips, fever, urticaria; in isolated cases — Quincke's edema, anaphylactic shock. CNS (Central Nervous System): headache, dizziness, tremor; in isolated cases — ataxia (impaired coordination), short-term loss of consciousness. Liver and biliary system: increased activity of transaminases and bilirubin (blood test parameters). Digestive system: nausea; in isolated cases — vomiting, diarrhea. Cardiovascular system: decrease or increase in blood pressure, tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), chest pain. Respiratory system: in isolated cases — feeling of shortness of breath, dyspnea, bronchial obstruction, dry cough. Local reactions: burning sensation along the vein during administration, phlebitis (vein inflammation), pain in the arm. Others: general weakness, chills, feeling of heat

Не следует применять одновременно с аминогликозидами из-за возможности повышения их нефротоксичности. В случае недавней, предшествующей применению эсцина лизината , длительной терапии антикоагулянтами или при необходимости одновременного эсцина лизината и антикоагулянтов необходимо проводить коррекцию дозы последних под контролем протромбинового индекса. Связывание эсцина лизината с белками плазмы затрудняется при одновременном применении антибиотиков цефалоспоринового ряда, что может повышать концентрацию свободного эсцина лизината в крови с риском развития побочных эффектов последнего.

Вводят в/в медленно, как правило, капельно в дозе 5-10 мг/сут. При необходимости доза может составлять 20 мг за 2 введения. Курс лечения - от 2 до 8 дней, в зависимости от состояния пациента и эффективности терапии.
